How Mesa Bulk Pickup Works
Mesa provides monthly bulk trash pickup to single-family residential customers. The city divides itself into districts, and each district has a designated week each month when bulk items are collected. Unlike Phoenix's twice-yearly service, Mesa's monthly frequency gives residents much more flexibility to dispose of large items when they need to.
Service is automatic — you do not need to schedule or call ahead. Set your eligible items at the curb by 6:00 AM on the first day of your designated pickup week, and crews will collect them during that week.

Set-Out Rules
- Items must be at the curb by 6:00 AM on the first Monday of your pickup week
- Set out no earlier than the Saturday before your pickup week begins
- Place items within 4 feet of the curb, not in the street
- Do not block sidewalks, fire hydrants, utility meters, or drainage grates
- Keep items at least 10 feet from any parked vehicle
- Do not bag items — bulk items should be placed loose at the curb
- Branches and vegetation must be bundled and tied separately from other items

Unlike Phoenix, which bans all mattresses entirely, Mesa accepts mattresses wrapped in sealed plastic mattress bags. These bags are available at moving supply stores, U-Haul locations, and on Amazon for about $8–$12 per bag. If you don't have a bag, the driver will likely leave the mattress — make sure it's fully sealed before your pickup week.
